This recipe will give you enough sauce for 2 separate meals.
1 lb minced veal/or beef
1 lb minced pork
3 jars (24 oz/680g) ground tomatoes
1 can (28 oz/796 ml) diced tomatoes
1 can (28 oz/796 ml) spiced ground tomatoes
¼ onion chopped
1 carrot chopped
1 celery stalk chopped
1 tbsp flour
¼ cup milk
¼ cup olive oil
4 bay leaves
Salt & Pepper to taste
Sauté onion, carrot, and celery in olive oil at medium to high heat. Season with salt and pepper. Add the meat. Season with salt and pepper. Stir. Once the juices dry up, sprinkle the flour and stir. Add the milk. Once the milk is absorbed, add the different tomatoes and bay leaves. Stir. Simmer covered for 1 hour and uncovered for 30 minutes. Stir occasionally.
This sauce can be used immediately or stored in the freezer in 500ml containers.
