Valentine’s Day Treat

The same Rice Krispies treats but with a little Valentine’s Day twist for the men in my life!  They love these treats so much I made them fun for them to eat.

You will need:

heart-shaped cookie cutter

candy sticks

pastry bag

skewer

½ cup melted chocolate

11″ x 14″ buttered pan

cellophane and ribbon

The Rice Krispies recipe.

This is the same recipe on the box.  I’m just making it more convenient for you to see it. (You usually find it on the inside of the box in the smallest print ever!)

¼ cup butter

48 regular marshmallows

6 cups Rice Krispies cereal

In large sauce pan over low heat, melt butter.

Add marshmallows.  Stir until melted and well blended.  Remove from heat.

Add cereal, stirring until well coated.

Using lightly-buttered spatula, press into buttered 9”x 13” pan.  Cool.

For this treat, I am using a slightly larger pan 11″ x 14″ because I will be using a heart-shaped cookie cutter.  The treats can’t be too thick.

You’ll get about 16 hearts and a few extra squares!  Use the extra squares to practice your chocolate design.

With the skewer, make a hole at the bottom of the heart.  Insert candy stick.

Pour the melted chocolate into the pastry bag.  Careful it’s hot!  Make a pretty artistic design on your hearts.  Refrigerate.

Wrap your hearts in plastic film.  Then wrap them in cellophane and tie with a ribbon.

Voilà!

  1. Nickie,
With Valentine’s Day coming up pleasing the men is always nice. Rice Krispies and adding chocolate to the mix is sure to be a hit. Will be making these soon.
